Making the Learning Commons Happen at the Ottawa Catholic School Board
Abstract
The authors describe a pilot project implemented with the aim to transform the district’s school libraries into learning commons. They include background, process, reflections and outline one of the schools experiences in the pilot project, a grade 7-12 high school in Ottawa.
Donna Presz is the Library Services Supervisor for the Ottawa Catholic School Board, Ontario.
Sarah Murray is a high school teacher-librarian in the Ottawa Catholic School Board. Her passion is literacy and she is an active advocate for reading in her school community. Her core character strength is the love of learning as she seeks to implement a character strengths approach to both teaching and parenting.
